We tell the truth, and we tell it in a good mood.
oráit is an independent Greek publication, published by Just Gold. In Greek, it covers contemporary Greek society: news, comment and satire, stories of people who did something, and good news that is true. In English, it covers the world: the stories worth knowing from anywhere, with the Greek ones alongside them.
It is a publication, not a movement. It holds power to account and it tells jokes. It is optimistic because it looks harder, not because it looks away.
Why oráit
Greek migrants made the word out of the English all right. To Booko, the Greeklish dictionary, writes it ορράιτ, and it is what a Greek Australian grandmother asks when she wants to know you are okay: «Όλα ορράιτ;» It does not mean everything is wonderful. It means it is going to be all right.
How it works
Every fact has a source that can be named. Nothing runs on one account. An international story is taken from the outlet or the record that published it first, never from a rewrite. No private person is named without their consent, and children are never named in full. When oráit gets something wrong, it corrects it in public.
During the beta, some stories are produced automatically with AI, and each one says so above the headline. No image on oráit is made by a machine. How oráit uses AI
There is this too.
We don't say everything is fine. We say there are also stories worth hearing.
A Just Gold publication.
